Hewwow

What a weekend!
In case you missed it, or have no clue what I'm talking about:
Couleur Café was something else.
A couple of years after Bai's last performance at this festival,
it was a great introduction of the man as a solo-artist...
not forgetting to give credit to his bandmembers, who pushed to show to it's utter limits.

The reception was great, the music was great, the vibes were great,
the organisation was great...
I think everybody was (and is) fairly happy.

Anyway, I'll try to get the report online a.s.a.p, but in the meantime it's time for some announcements for the July gigs...
of which there are plenty...
and with some pretty unique ones amongst them!

This info should also appear on the website, but I'm afraid it'll get there too late again.
Still, check out the current schedule for last minute information and time schedules

For starters, for everybody that wants to see the band again (unfortunately, without super-clarinet player Joe Higham... unless... he shows up for an un-announced appearance),
Bai, Thierry, Eric and Christoph will give a show at the
Havana in Brussels this
Wednesday, July 2nd at 9:30pm
(Rue de l'Epée 4, 1000 BRUSSELS. Email: info@havana-brussels.com)

Supposibly there are free tapas on the terrace at 7 pm (according to the flyer),
just for those who hesitate.

If you think on missing that gig, then there's a solo gig on
Friday, July 11th at the Mini Louise
(Rue Jourdan 3, 1060 BRUSSELS - 10pm)

or the day after, you can see Bai and guitar master Eric on
Saturday, July 12th at Café Dada.
(Wolvengracht 29 rue du Fossé aux Loups, 1000 BRUSSELS - 9:30pm)

For people that like to move around or see Bai in different settings,
July has plenty of special moments to offer.

On Thursday, July 3rd there's a Jam in Melsele with super musicians
Steven De Bruyn on harmonica,
Wuff Maze and René Stock (before of the late Electric Kings) on drum & bass,
Filip Wauters on guitar
... and Bai Kamara Jr, of course.
(Café De Mops, Gaverlandstraat 133, 9120 Melsele, Tel: 03 755 59 57)

For the weekend out, there's the Brussels' Beach Party at Place Luxembourgh on
Saturday, July 12th at 2:45pm,
where Bai will join his friends of Saint for a special musical blend.

Then... more holiday fever can be seen on
Monday, July 21st,
when Bai will look for an "African Salesman", performing "Downtown St Josse" in front of the Palace of Justice... with symphonic orchestra.
He'll be standing on stage amongst the bigger names of the Belgian music scene.

Talking about big names: at the Gentse Feesten, Bai will be part of an "all star band" who will perform during two days
(on July 23rd and 24th at 8:15pm)
at the Handelsbeurs.
These shows are put together by producer & composer Jo Bogaert, who's know of Technotronic, but he also worked with and produced various acts like Luc De Vos, Jan De Wilde, Robert Wyatt en Michael Brook.
He asked a couple of musicians that he admired to participate to his "ideal" musical evening.
With some of the musicians he worked before, with some he didn't, which guarantees the "kick".
The "ideal musical evening" is according to Jo Bogaert a mixture of latin, jazz, pop and improvisations in continuously changing combo's of musicians who work together for the first time.
It should be an adventurous cocktail, that'll touch everyone.
Featuring: Michel Hatzigeorgio - bass (Aka Moon), Gabriel Rios - voice & guitar, Bai Kamara Jr. - voice & guitar, Geert Maesschalck - voice & bass, Rodrigo Fuentealba - guitar (50 Foot Combo), Kobe Proesmans - percussion, Steven De Bruyn - harmonica, Frank De Ruyter - sax, Gert Meert - drums, Thomas De Prins - keyboards (Les Messieurs), Bart Quartier - marimba en vibraphone.

(yes, I did copy this out of the press-release)

And then I didn't even mention the airplay Bai got and will get.
Even satellite station TV5 interviewed the man, to show all over the world what he's got to offer.
It should be on, somewhere this week.
Also an interview on Radio Capitale should be in the air before the weekend.

It's almost as if there's a Bai Kamara Jr. on the rise...
Still... we can use all the support we can get...
especially since the months after might be much calmer.

So we hope to see you at some concerts,
keep on asking for airplay,
pursuade your friends to buy a CD...
and... to conclude... as always,
we thank you for your support,
from the bottom of our heart:
we couldn't do it without you!
