Wow, another newsletter already? Well, yes, since it would be a disgrace not to focus a little bit on Les Nuits Botaniques, the reknown festival in Brussels that features stars from all over the world on five different stages. The festival started yesterday and runs until the last weekend of September, but we would like to focus on Thursday, September 25th. Bai will perform in an accoustic setting with good ol' Eric Moens and Thierry Rombaux in Les Grandes Serres, maybe one of the few times left we'll see the Living Room Trio by themselves on a big stage, since it's most likely that Bai will perform much more with his full band in the near future (following the line of the Urban Gipsy record). ![]() Bai will be opening for Little Axe, a band who's blues goes back to the roots of Robert Johnson. Skip McDonald, the mind behind Little Axe, sculpted this original black music into a style far beyond. As an America guitarist living in the UK, he worked with artists like Sinéad O'Connor, Living Color and George Clinton. He co-produced albums for Lee 'Scratch' Perry, African Head Charge, Junior Delgado and the masterpeace Miracle of Bim Sherman. After experimenting with beats, noise en dub, in Tackhead, he founded Little Axe in the early nineties. All the influences can be heard in the music, with samples of blues singers, dub, tablas and other exoctic percussion, going from funk and hiphop to slow lounge, whith the all over presence of Skip's mysterious guitar play. Also on the playbill is Badmarsh & Shri Sound System. The concert starts at 20:00.
